Celebrations Group
. . . provides or assists in providing Humanistic celebrations of the major holidays. We celebrate
Lupercalia (Valentine's Day), Easter (the rebirth of the earth),
May Day (with ribboned pole), fireworks viewing on July 4th,
pumpkin carving, Samhain (Halloween; with costumes), a communal Thanksgiving dinner,
a decorated tree for San José's "Christmas in the Park" celebration (We love to have our children participate!),
and around Christmastime, a Winter Solstice party and/or
a Human Light party and/or other parties, depending on the host(s).

Humanist Celebrants, Ceremonies
The Humanist Community has several excellent Humanist Celebrants, who perform weddings, naming ceremonies and memorials. Humanist Celebrants have the legal authority to officiate at weddings, and possess diverse resources for celebrations and ceremonies. For more details, contact any person on the Board of Directors.
Volunteers Needed

Projects We Support
We actively support several projects not of our own making or control; prominent among them:
- Camp Quest, a summer camp for freethinker kids; nine locations (so far) in North America, including:
- Camp Quest West in California, which has a separate page on this site
- Carry the Vision, a project to promote nonviolence
- Humanist charity efforts

SMART Recovery
SMART Recovery is a self-help substance abuse support group. A humanistic, rational alternative to AA, Smart Recovery meets at various places in the South Bay. For meeting information, call 408-739-7230
